Seton Hall's Defensive Matchup Ends In 0-0 Tie

HEMPSTEAD, NY – The Seton Hall Women's Soccer Team (4-0-2) took the trip up to Long Island for a tough defensive battle against Hofstra (1-5-2) on Thursday. Both teams struggled to get shots on goal, ending in a 0-0 tie. 

Coming into the game, the Pirates had won four straight and tied Wagner last Thursday. They hit the road hoping to finish their non-conference matchups with a win after only allowing one goal in their first five games. 

In the first half, the Pirates dominated possession, and the defense smothered Hofstra, only allowing one shot. The game got a little chippy with Seton Hall receiving a yellow card, but that didn’t give Hofstra enough to make anything out of it. 

Seton Hall’s best chance to score was a corner kick late in the first half that found its way to a Seton Hall attacker, but the Hofstra defense was able to get the ball out before they could get a chance to score.  

Yet, the Pirates defense stayed strong and didn’t allow Hofstra to do anything to close out the half. 

The second half, like the first, remained a defensive battle, and Seton Hall was not letting up; they kept the pressure on but may have been a little too physical with them receiving two more yellow cards. Once again, this gave Hofstra no advantage, causing the game to remain scoreless until the very end, with a 0-0 final score.  

Seton Hall remains unbeaten after only allowing one shot on goal for the whole game in their defensive battle with Hofstra.  

 

This allows the Pirates to head into conference play with a zero in the loss column hoping for their first Big East win in their matchup against DePaul in Chicago, IL Saturday, Sep. 26 at 1 p.m.
