Seton Hall Goes Scoreless in 0-0 Tie Against DePaul

The Seton Hall Pirates (4-0-3) picked up their third straight 0-0 tie against the DePaul Blue Demons (3-2-4) in Chicago on Saturday. While the weather forecast for the weekend in New Jersey looked miserable, The Pirates traveled to DePaul for their first BIG EAST matchup of the season.

 

The two squads played a field position battle for the first twelve minutes before we saw the game's first scoring chance. DePaul forward Katelyn Haiser took a shot in the 13th minute that went off target, so the match remained knotted up at 0.  

 

Despite each team having a few solid chances in the first half, they didn’t lead to any change on the scoreboard as the teams headed to the locker room, still tied up.

 

The Blue Demons came out of the break firing with two shots on goal in a two-minute span. The shots just weren’t enough to get past Pirate goalkeeper, Katherine Kleinsmith.  

 

Both teams did a good job on defense but couldn’t get things going offensively. Seton Hall’s first shot on goal of the game didn’t come until the 86th minute, when Brianna Azevedo placed one in the bottom left section of the net, but Mason Hillery was there to stop it and the game remained tied.  

 

One major bright spot for The Pirates today was Katherine Kleinsmith, who finished the game going a perfect 4 for 4 in saves on the day, which kept this match tied until the end.  

 

Seton Hall left Chicago with no goals, with the game finishing as a 0-0 tie.

 

Seton Hall will come back home on Wednesday to take on the Butler Bulldogs on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m., where they look to get back in the win column after their three-game tie streak.
