Pirate Preview: Jada Eads

The biggest factor in maintaining success on a year-to-year basis in the collegiate sporting realm is being able to effectively recruit.  One year a team can dominate and have widespread success, but if time is not put into going out and scouting players to benefit the team in the coming years, it will set up a path to failure.  Seton Hall’s Women’s Head Basketball Coach Anthony Bozzella has put ample time into crafting his squad for this year, through the routes of transfers as well as incoming freshmen.

After their 2023-24 campaign saw the Pirates go 17-15, they lost some of their top producers to graduation and transfers, so there will be plenty of room for newcomers to make an impact going forward.  In this Pirate Preview, we will be focusing on one of the newest Pirate freshmen, Jada Eads. Eads, a 5’7” guard out of Orlando, Florida, is looking to carry over her success from her senior year of high school into her time with the blue and white.

"We are so excited to have Jada and her family be a part of our Seton Hall family," Bozzella said.  "Jada had a fantastic senior year topped off by a state championship and all-state personal honors.  Jada will continue in the line of our great point guard tradition here at Seton Hall."

Bozzella’s excitement is definitely warranted, as over her high school years between Wekiva and Lake Highland Prep, Eads posted over 1,500 points in addition to averaging 5.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.4 steals per game.

As for accolades, it’s a run-on list, as she was a two-year team captain, 2024 Orlando Sentinel Player of the Year, McDonald's All-American nominee, 3SSB All-American, and FACA 4A District 11 Player of the Year. Additionally, she was a three-time member of the Orlando Sentinel All-Area First Team and a participant in the AEBL All-Star Game.

Whew…that’s a lot, but without a doubt something to be pumped up about.  However, as a freshman, Eads will have to prove herself immensely to be able to crack the starting lineup in just her first season of collegiate play. But with her track record, it is nowhere near being out of the question.

Nonetheless, Bozzella and his Pirates squad have certainly brought in a talented point guard who will have the ability to be a star for this team over her next four years in South Orange.
