LITTLE FALLS, N.J. - The Seton Hall Pirates (5-7) triumphed over the NJIT Highlanders (6-7) in an 8-5 victory at Yogi Berra Stadium.

The game started slow at first with both teams going scoreless over the first two innings. The moment picked up in the top of the 3rd inning, in which the Pirates took the 1-0 lead. Aiden Dill was set up on base by Aidan Sengenberger to give the Pirates the first run thanks to the RBI single.

The Pirates held their ground, holding the initial Highlander offense push to only one run in the 4th inning, bringing them to 1-1. The Pirates managed to retake the lead in the 5th inning thanks to Ryan Frontera. His single brought both Dill and Gabe Cavazzoni home, giving them a 4-1 lead.

The Pirates added to that lead when Shea Grady connected with a single which brought in another two runs. Chris Ho managed to shut down the enemy and cement the Pirates' lead. By the end of this exciting 5th inning, the Pirates led 6-1.

The Pirates pitching continued to star as they held their lead up through the 7th inning, where they then added to the margin once again. Frontera and Sengenberger were on base when Vincent Duffy stepped up to the plate. His single grew the lead to 8-1. The Highlanders got a run back in the 7th inning, and yet another in the 8th inning to bring the score to 8-3.

NJIT started to give the Pirates a scare when they added two late runs, but the Pirates pitching staff locked it down late, to secure the 8-5 win.

Following their win against NJIT, the Pirates will now return home for weekend series against Brown, with first pitch of game one set for 4 p.m. on Friday.
