INDIANAPOLIS, IND - After nine days away from the field, Seton Hall men’s soccer returned to action Friday night, but the long-awaited goal never came.

The Pirates played Butler to a 0-0 draw at Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl, earning another point in BIG EAST play while extending their unbeaten conference start.

Seton Hall entered the match coming off a 0-0 draw against No. 18 Princeton and looked to carry that momentum into Friday’s road matchup. Instead, the opening 45 minutes turned into a defensive battle, with the two teams combining for just three shots.

Butler held a slight 2-1 advantage in shots during the first half, but Seton Hall goalkeeper Devin Armstrong came up with an important save on a long-distance attempt to keep the game scoreless.

The Pirates nearly broke through just before halftime. Hubert Brysiak found an opportunity on a header in the 45th minute, but his attempt sailed just over the crossbar, sending the teams into the locker room tied at 0-0.

Seton Hall came out of halftime with much more pressure.

The Pirates controlled the attacking momentum in the second half and outshot Butler 9-2. Seton Hall also created several opportunities from corner and free kicks, but the Bulldogs' defense continued to keep the Pirates off the scoreboard.

Joaquin Brizuela provided Seton Hall with another attacking spark, recording a season-high four shots. His best opportunity came late in the match, but Butler's defense blocked the attempt before it could reach the net.

Butler began finding more chances on the counterattack after the 60-minute mark, forcing Armstrong to make another important save. The Seton Hall goalkeeper remained composed and helped preserve his fifth clean sheet of the season.

Despite controlling the shot count 10-4 and earning six corner kicks, Seton Hall managed just one shot on target throughout the match. Butler finished with three shots on goal, but Armstrong and the Pirates' defense kept the Bulldogs from finding a breakthrough.

The final whistle brought Seton Hall its second consecutive 0-0 draw and its fourth draw of the season.

The Pirates move to 3-2-4 overall and 1-0-1 in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall will return home Tuesday to face Sacred Heart at Owen T. Carroll Field, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.

For the second straight match, the Pirates leave the field without a goal, but they also leave without conceding one.
