Seton Hall Manages 1-1 Draw Against Sacred Heart

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall Pirates embarked looking to do a few things in their matchup against the Sacred Heart Pioneers, win their first game since September 18th and score their first home goal since the playoffs last year, only one of those two things happened tonight.

Their matchup ended in a 1-1 draw after the Pirates gave up a sloppy goal from a yellow card with 35 seconds left in the first half. That is in addition to the game getting chippy with 11 yellow cards being issued in the contest amongst both teams.

The first and only goal in the contest for The Hall to break their streak of not being able to score at home came from Knut Hannes-Simon Ottosson in the 29th minute of the contest with the assist going to Tim Valentine, after that was a defensive showing for the ages to prevent a relentless attack from the Pioneers.

The Pirates continued to show aggression like they were down a score instead of trying to increase their lead, with the goal unfortunately not being able to squeeze past the goalie.

Tragedy then struck when in the 44th minute when Nicolas Feiguin got sloppy and tackled a Pioneer to not only earn a yellow card, but allow a penalty kick, which got through and equalized the game and essentially made it a brand-new contest.

Coming out of half time, the Pirates seemed refreshed and even angry, wanting to get back for that sloppy miscue from the end of the first half, leading to an explosive offensive barrage of shots on goal, however not being able to get through any of them.

Especially with captain Til Kauschke being more aggressive in the second half, moving up from his more conservative midfielder role and defensive playstyle in the contest, to being more so a combo of both.

As the final seconds ran down both teams became more and more impatient and angry, eventually with a scuffle breaking out before one of the final corner kicks of the game and with words being said, with the officials having to break the two teams apart multiple times.

With that being said, the contest ended in a 1-1 tie after a multitude of yellow cards and shots on goal with none going in.

The Pirates take the field home once again on October 10th for a Big East conference Matchup against Xavier, a game they are now hungry for after the disappointing tie that was given to them in yesterday's contest.
