SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. -- The Seton Hall Pirates (10-4, 4-1) won 81-36 in an onslaught victory over the Georgetown Hoyas (8-5, 1-3) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hoyas were limited to eight points in the first quarter and thirteen points in the entire first half. Their 36 total points in the game are the least by a Seton Hall opponent this season.

Georgetown’s Khia Miller opened the scoring in the first quarter, but that would be the Hoyas’ only field goal for the first six minutes of the game.

Meanwhile, Savannah Catalon racked up three of her eventual seven steals on the day. She had two fast break layups, one of which immediately following a Jordana Codio three ball from the corner.

Despite the lopsided turnout of the quarter, both teams struggled keeping the ball on their end of the court. Georgetown had eight turnovers while Seton Hall had two. The Pirates closed out the quarter on an 8-0 run.

The second quarter went from bad to worse for the Hoyas. They would finish the half having the same number of points as they had turnovers (13). Not only were shots from the field not falling for Georgetown, but they also went 1-6 from the free throw line, good for just 25% the entire half.

The Pirates saw their field goal percentage dip as well, going from shooting 64% in the first to 38% in the second. Still, the Hoyas offensive incompetence had the Pirates sitting on a 40-13 lead at halftime, their second-largest halftime lead of the season, only behind their 31-point lead against Saint Peter’s in the season opener on 11/4.

The second half was merely 20 minutes of munching clock, with Georgetown seemingly coming to terms that there was no fixing the offensive woes. The Hoyas shot 25% from the field and went 1-7 (15%) from behind the arc in the third, while Pirates went 6-10 from the field and 3-5 from downtown.

Starters were subbed out as early as two minutes to go in the third quarter, making the fourth an opportunity for lower classmen to make names for themselves. Lo and behold, Natalia Hall-Rosa was able to sink a pair of three pointers en route to her career-high eight points, and Jada Snow scored her first collegiate points.

With the final buzzer sounding, the Pirates put a bow on their 2025 calendar in dominant fashion. Four Pirates finished the day in double figures: Savannah Catalon (14), Jada Eads (12), Zahara Bishop (11), and Ja’Kahla Craft (10).

In addition to the team-leading 14 points, Catalon’s seven steals matched her career-second best (11 on 2/8/25 and seven on 3/2/25, both against Xavier). Mariana Valenzuela topped the rebound column with eight, while Shailyn Pinkney and Jada Eads led the way with four assists each.

In conclusion, the game came down to the fundamentals. As bad as Georgetown’s 22 turnovers were, Seton Hall, having 17 of their own, was not exactly ideal either. The difference, however, was the points off turnover differential being 26-4, in favor of Seton Hall.

That combined with Georgetown’s legitimate struggle to hit free throws left them behind the eight ball from the jump.

The Pirates will open their 2026 calendar year on Saturday, January 3 in Hartford, Connecticut as they take on #1 UConn (14-0, 5-0). Tune in to 89.5 FM WSOU where Chris Heite and Jack Pine will be on the call.
