Predicting the New York Giants W-L Record for the 2025 Season

by Ryan Nelke

The New York Giants had arguably their worst season in franchise history in 2024, finishing 3-14.  One would think that after a season like this, New York’s competition would be easier than the average team.  Well, you guessed wrong, as not only did the Giants schedule get harder for the 2025 season, but it is the hardest schedule out of any team this coming season.

The win percentage of New York’s opponents sits at .574 for the 2025 campaign, and features a home schedule where there is a possibility they do not win a single contest.  Nonetheless, with the NFL season on the horizon, it’s time to predict the 2025 W-L record for the Giants.

Week 1: Giants @ Commanders

Despite Washington making it to the NFC Championship game last year and now being one of the biggest threats in the NFC, something tells me this could already be a trap game for the Commanders.  The G-Men always keep it interesting against Washington, and with the threats of Malik Nabers and a potential top defense, an upset is definitely possible.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Commanders

Weeks 2-3: Giants @ Cowboys, Giants vs Chiefs (SNF)

Unfortunately, the Giants schedule does not give them very many layups, and after pulling off a shocker in Week 1, their gift is Dallas on the road before welcoming Kansas City in for the home opener on Sunday Night Football.  The Giants have not won in Dallas since 2016, while the Chiefs are simply…the Chiefs, so I’d be blown away if they steal either of these games.

PREDICTION: Cowboys def. Giants, Chiefs def. Giants

Weeks 4-5: Giants vs Chargers, Giants @ Saints

Call me delusional, but the Giants will win both of these games.  This is based upon my belief that this New York defense will be dominant this year, as their front of Dexter Lawrence, Abdul Carter, Brian Burns, and Kayvon Thibodeaux is the best in the league, in addition to the improvements they made in the secondary with Jevon Holland and Paulson Adebo.

The Chargers game is obviously the tougher contest of the two, as the Saints will probably be the worst team in the league this season, but for Los Angeles, if the New York defense can stand strong and keep this a low scoring game, the Giants could very well squeak by.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Chargers, Giants def. Saints

Weeks 6-9: Giants vs Eagles (TNF), Giants @ Broncos, Giants @ Eagles, Giants vs 49ers

Here’s where all the fun and games of starting off 3-2 come to an end.  The insanely difficult schedule strikes again, as New York plays Philly twice in 17 days, while also having to make a trip to Mile High and hosting the 49ers at home.

The two Eagles games are automatic losses, as Philadelphia is elite on both sides of the ball.  The trip to Denver is not a guaranteed loss, but a questionable Giants offense will struggle on the road versus a top notch defense.  This four game stretch is then closed out with a loss to San Francisco, who should return to a contender this year.

PREDICTION: Eagles def. Giants, Broncos def. Giants, Eagles def. Giants, 49ers def. Giants

Week 10: Giants @ Bears

After a rough four game losing streak, the Giants finally figure it out and take the Bears down on the road.  I am not sold on this Chicago team being competitive this year, and this opens the door for New York to grab a victory here.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Bears

Weeks 11-12: Giants vs Packers, Giants @ Lions

There’s not much the G-Men can do here, as they face two NFC North powerhouses in back to back weeks.  The Giants defense might be able to keep it somewhat close, but I do not expect their offense to keep up with either Green Bay or Detroit.

PREDICTION: Packers def. Giants, Lions def. Giants

Week 13: Giants @ Patriots (MNF)

While many think the Pats are ready to take a step up this year, this is another game that I feel semi-confident the Giants could steal, due to the sole factor of New York defense overpowering a 2nd year Drake Maye led offense.  However, this is a primetime game, which is something New York rarely ever wins.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Patriots

Week 14: Bye Week

Week 15: Giants vs Commanders

New York was able to escape Washington in Week 1, but a battle tested Commanders squad through 14 weeks will certainly avenge their home opener loss.

PREDICTION: Commanders def. Giants

Week 16: Giants vs Vikings

I have never been a big JJ McCarthy fan, and I believe giving the reins to him over Darnold was a big mistake.  As a result, Minnesota will have a down year and lead to New York grabbing this late season contest, despite them already being out of playoff contention.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Vikings

Week 17: Giants @ Raiders

This is where I envision the Jaxson Dart debut.  With the Giants sitting at 6-9, starting Russell Wilson or Jameis Winston does not benefit the team in any way.  This will be a closely contested battle between two teams out of the playoff picture, but in the end, Dart prevails and in turn gives a sneak peak to a bright future for this team.

PREDICTION: Giants def. Raiders

Week 18: Giants vs Cowboys

Dart gets his second and final start to close out the season, but with Dallas still playing their starters, his encore is not as pretty as his opening act against Vegas.  Dart struggles, and the Cowboys cruise to a win.

PREDICTION: Cowboys def. Giants

All in all, a 7-10 season is not entirely bad for this Giants squad.  If the defense lives up to expectations, and the offense shows signs of life, especially with Dart at the helm, it should be enough to keep Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen around.  Moreover, with Dart taking over in the final weeks, it provides insight as well as intrigue into what he can bring this franchise in his first full season in 2026.
