MILWAUKEE, W.I. – The Seton Hall Pirates (4-2-3) surged to their second win in BIG EAST conference play as they put the stake into the Marquette Golden Eagles (4-2-2) away from home.
A lot of the usual suspects started this game for Seton Hall, with the biggest rotation in the team coming with Ralph Pascarella coming in for Konstantin Donalies, who is serving a suspension after his red card against Princeton.
As we regularly see with the Pirates, this game started slowly, with them trying to find their rhythm and how they wanted to play. It was positive, as the visitors tallied the only two shots in the first 15 minutes, those coming from Agustin Reach and Til Kauschke.
Seton Hall continued their domination of the game, piling on the chances, but none of them were able to find the back of the net. That was until the ball landed at the feet of Aiden Tisony, who fired it into the bottom right corner.
Going into halftime, Seton Hall led by one goal and demonstrated their strength, which is their defense. Marquette did not muster up a shot to test Matias Molina the entire half.
The Pirates wasted no time in the 2nd half, scoring just after the 52nd minute. The goal came from Hugo Gerbore, who found the bottom left corner after a pass from Mikkel Lejbowicz.
With the Pirates up 2-0, the tension flared up as the yellow cards started flying. The next seven minutes saw four yellow cards, two for each team.
The Hall’s domination disappeared after adding to their lead. The game became more even, and Marquette started getting chances on target. The away team continued to press, attempting to score another goal, but it never materialized. Luckily for them, it did not matter, as they kept a clean sheet and secured a 2-0 victory.
The Seton Hall Pirates return home as they host the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday, which is one of the two other teams to be perfect through two games in BIG EAST play. Chris Heite and AJ Rayer will be on the call, with kickoff set for 6:56 p.m.
