Pirates Notch First Win With 3-2 Victory Over Campbell

DURHAM, N.C. - The Seton Hall Pirates (1-1-0) picked up their first win of the season on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Campbell Fighting Camels (0-2-0). 

Seton Hall struck early with Mikkel Lejbowicz finding the back of the net in only the second minute. The goal was assisted by Nico Rubio as the Pirates rattled the ball around the box. The goal was upheld following a review initiated by Campbell. 

The Pirates controlled possession throughout the early stages while generating several shots on goal. Campbell created a few chances of their own, but Seton Hall continued to control the match. 

Lejbowicz got his brace as he doubled the Pirates lead in the 20th minute, scoring as the ball was whipped in from near the halfway line.  

The Fighting Camels would begin to grow into the match as they eventually got on the board. Shortly after a brief break, Kana Dube would capitalize on a Pirates giveaway to cut the lead in half. 

Afterwards, Campbell would put together periods of sustained possession before the half. However, Seton Hall carried their 2-1 lead into halftime.  

The second half opened up much more evenly with neither side creating any significant attempts on goal. The Pirates, though, eventually added to their lead as Samuel Sansone made it 3-1 in the 76th minute. Rubio picked up his second assist of the afternoon. Campbell once again challenged the call, but the goal stood. 

The Fighting Camels responded almost immediately, with Almendarez Castro finding the back of the net to once again to bring Campbell within one.  

Seton Hall would cling to their 3-2 lead in the closing minutes, holding on to win. The win gives the Pirates their first win of the season after opening the year with a loss to Duke.
