PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Seton Hall Pirates (10-5, 4-2) travel to Rhode Island to face the Providence Friars (9-7, 2-3) on Thursday, January 8.

The Pirates look to rebound from an 84-48 loss to the number one ranked UConn Huskies against a middle-of-the-pack type of Providence team, sitting at 9-7. The Friars have struggled against BIG EAST opponents thus far, sitting at 2-3 in conference play, something the Pirates should use to their advantage.

The main players to look out for are Sabou Gueye, averaging 14.1 points per game, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game, someone that looks to disturb the Pirates all over the court this game, another name to look for is Teneisia Brown.

Brown averages 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. The Pirates will look to build a gameplan around avoiding turnovers from these two and finding their way to the rim to capitalize on sloppy play on their part.

The Hall with a win can potentially jump Marquette in the BIG EAST conference standings after this game depending on what happens with them as they are tied with them at a 10-5 record and 4-2 in conference play.

A win from this contest is pivotal to helping the Pirates catch up to Villanova and potentially UConn for when it comes to the BIG EAST tournament, granting them a more preferable matchup.

This is a much-needed win to get back on track for the Pirates and to especially get them in the right headspace for when these types of matchups start to become more meaningful than they already are for them.

Catch the game on January 8 at 7:00 P.M. where Ryder Nuesell and Lauren Reese will have the call for 89.5 FM WSOU.
