CHICAGO, I.L. -- The visiting Seton Hall Pirates were swept by the DePaul Blue Demons on Friday evening.

Going into the match, Seton Hall was looking to bounce back after another conference loss at the hands of the UConn Huskies, three sets to none. The injury-ridden Pirates were looking to get into the win column against DePaul before having to face tough teams like Marquette and Creighton on the road next.

The first set mirrored the two teams last matchup, with both trading 3-0 runs to start and tying at 5-5. The back-and-forth continued to 10-10, as Hanna Labanowska and Isabela Tavares-Salamon led their teams early.

Seton Hall held a narrow 15-14 lead at the media timeout, but DePaul capitalized on Pirate errors to go up 19-16, forcing a timeout. The Blue Demons stayed in control, extending their lead to 22-19.

After a brief Seton Hall rally sparked by Alex Rasmussen, more errors handed DePaul set point, and Morgan Stewart sealed it with a kill for a 25-21 win. Sloppy play and errors once again cost the Pirates the opening set.

Seton Hall opened the second set looking to rebound, but DePaul’s Kendell Timme quickly put the Blue Demons ahead with an early kill. The Pirates briefly regained momentum before DePaul responded with a 5-0 run fueled by multiple kills and service aces.

Timme continued to dominate, leading another 5-0 stretch that forced a Pirates timeout with Seton Hall down 11-4. Out of the break, Timme and Tavares-Salamon each had six kills, keeping DePaul in control.

Daria Safian sparked a short Pirates run with back-to-back kills, but service errors halted their progress. Jade Epps then delivered two straight aces as DePaul extended the lead to 19-11, prompting another Seton Hall timeout. The Blue Demons closed strong, taking the set 25-15 and a 2-0 match lead.

The third set started strong for Seton Hall, jumping ahead 3-1 with two kills from Gwen Adler. DePaul quickly responded with multiple runs, taking control 7-4. The teams traded points until DePaul pulled away 17-9, capped by a big kill from Jade Epps that forced another Pirates timeout.

Seton Hall showed brief life with a small run, but continued service errors stalled their momentum. DePaul maintained a comfortable lead at 21-14 before Kendell Timme closed it out with a final kill, sealing the straight-sets victory for the Blue Demons.

The Pirates would be handed their second straight sweep in a match that continued to show their struggles in BIG EAST play. Seton Hall drops to 0-13 in conference play.

The remaining matches will not be any easier for the Pirates as they will take on the Marquette Golden Eagles and Creighton Blue Jays in their next two matchups. They will travel to Wisconsin to play Marquette on Sunday, November 9 at 1:00 P.M.
