SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall Pirates (6-9, 0-2) lost their second straight against the Creighton Bluejays (8-14, 2-0) in BIG EAST play on Saturday by a final score of 15-3.
On the Pirates side of the mound, Kyra Kreuscher gave up eight runs, pitching two innings before her day was over. Her record as a starter now sits at 1-4.
Hitting was not much better from Seton Hall either, as they only scored three runs and left five players stuck on base in the contest.
For Creighton however, they were on fire hitting and on the mound, only giving up three runs, scoring fifteen, and only leaving four players stuck on base today. This is with starting pitcher Ava Drehs improving to a 1-1 record on the young season.
The Hall are off to a rough start to conference play this season, however there is still room to turn it around, not even getting to the twenty-game mark yet, with flashes of dominance in the Paladin Invitational and spurts of fantastic hitting along with pitching.
The Pirates look to get rid of this poor taste in their mouth on Sunday and to hopefully get some steam under them as they start to get into the heart of in conference play, with assuredly tougher opponents on the way for them.
These first games of conference play could be seen as growing pains, with chemistry needing to be grown within the team and overall meshing of different play styles to form a cohesive bond like in the Paladin invitational, a glimpse into how this team can perform with a little bit of chemistry and teamwork.
Join Christian Oliveri and Blair Yusko on the call on Sunday, March 8 at 12:00 P.M. on WSOU 89.5 as the Pirates look to avoid the sweep.
