BETHLEHEM, P.A. - The Seton Hall men’s soccer team (6-2-6) kicked off their three-game road trip on Tuesday, and cruised to a 5-1 win against the Lehigh Mountain Hawks (7-5-3).

In the first half, Seton Hall was rolling with their offense, displaying their firepower and aggressiveness early on. This was evident in the 11th minute when two strong shots by the Pirates were saved by Lehigh, but granted the Pirates a corner kick.

The Pirates then capitalized on this as the sophomore Til Kauschke collected the ball, and dished it out to Sam Bjork who weaved his way through defenders and fired a right-foot shot to put the Pirates up 1-0.

Seton Hall’s offense continued to push, as their last shot of the half came in the 44th minute when Liam Guske was able to cross the ball through the backline and get the ball to Pyry Lampinen, who executed a shot down the middle to give the Pirates a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

The Pirates did not take their foot off the gas in the second half, as in the 48th minute, Joseph Min, the junior transfer from Richland College, crossed a ball over to Mikkel Lejbowicz, who struck the ball down the middle of the box, past the goalie to make it 3-0.

Lejbowicz was not done just yet, as later on, midfielder Thomas Sellwood pushed the ball down the field and got it back to Lejbowicz on the left flank. Lejbowicz then crossed the ball inside the box and struck a shot through Lehigh’s goalie, Anton Kinnunen, to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

The lead pushed the game out of reach for Lehigh, and with about 20 minutes to go in the game, the Pirates emptied their bench with the comfortable lead.

In the 83rd minute, the Seton Hall senior Diego Fernandez collected the ball on the wing toward the right flank. Fernandez then crossed the ball to Joe Waight who was streaking towards a clear path to the goal after blowing by a defender, and hit an impressive header to make it a 5-0 game.

Shortly afterward, about 30 seconds later, Lehigh scored their first and only goal in this game, with Matthew Aitchison tallying his first of the season.  However, this score did not do much to affect the outcome of the over game, as the Pirates came away with a 5-1 victory.

The Pirates will look to remain hot, as they stay on the road to travel to Queens to play St. John’s for a late afternoon matchup this Saturday.
