Fresh off an NIT championship, the Seton Hall Pirates are eager to build on recent success, and one key addition to achieve that is junior guard Zion Harmon. After losing two starting ball handlers from last season, adding Harmon makes sense for Seton Hall.
Harmon is no stranger to handling the ball, having led Bethune-Cookman in assists last year. Passing isn’t the only skill Harmon brings to South Orange—the six-foot guard also averaged 14.6 points per game, adding balance to the Pirates' offense.
Playing high-level basketball is something Harmon knows well. Growing up in Maryland, he was a consensus four-star recruit in high school and even competed at the high school level as a middle schooler. Harmon also played on the U.S. 16U FIBA national team, averaging 11 points per game and helping lead the team to a gold medal. His standout performances with the AAU program Boo Williams Elite gained him significant social media attention, as he played for the 17U team while still in eighth grade.
Pirate fans should expect a lot from Harmon this season. Entering his third year of college basketball, his leadership will be crucial for a Seton Hall squad that has added five transfers. Harmon has the traits needed to excel in this role, having shot over 90% from the free-throw line last season while doubling his assists per game and nearly halving his turnovers.
Harmon’s high basketball IQ, combined with his ball-handling ability, makes him an asset to the Pirates. His scoring and playmaking add depth to the offense, which will benefit from his experience after the departure of last season’s starting guards.
A key emphasis for Seton Hall coach Shaheen Holloway has been on effort and energy—qualities that align with Harmon’s game. This synergy is expected to blend with Holloway’s vision in South Orange. With the men’s basketball season just around the corner, excitement is building on the Seton Hall campus. Harmon and the Pirates are ready to deliver.
