This season, freshman forward Trishay Collins looks to fill an open roster spot and solidify her role on the Seton Hall Pirates.

The 6-foot-1 freshman brings a welcome defensive presence to the locker room, having earned Cape Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year during her time in high school. Collins attended Heritage High school for her first three years and then transferred to her hometown of Palm Bay as a senior.  She averaged 2.2 blocks a game there and 1.6 blocks a game while at Heritage.

This strong performance throughout her high school career has made her a standout candidate for the Pirates throughout the recruitment process, especially with her defensive specialty and ability to create disruptions. Collins is especially strong in steals, which is something she improved on throughout her high school career.
During her senior year of high school she averaged a double-double, thus bringing a welcome offensive presence to the Pirates this season as well.

Throughout the beginning of May of this year, Collins decided to bring her talents to Seton Hall, becoming one of five freshmen that have four years of eligibility. The early recruitment has given Collins plenty of time to develop chemistry with teammates and learn the Pirates system.

Coach Bozzella and the Pirates look to build off their strong 23-10 record from last season to make a push in the BIG EAST and a bid at the NCAA Tournament. Collins has the potential to step up and be one of those players that the Pirates rely on to produce throughout the season on both sides of the ball, creating turnovers, and forcing contested shots.

The freshman forward looks to make her presence known on the Pirates, and she will get her first shot to do so when the Pirates open their season against the Saint Peter’s Peacocks in Historic Walsh Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 4 at 7:00 P.M.
