In the 2024-25 season, then-sophomore guard Savannah Catalon solidified herself as one of the stars of the Seton Hall Pirates Women’s Basketball team.
After a successful 2023-24 freshman season, Catalon managed to elevate her game even further, becoming a key leader on and off the court for an impressive Pirates team. Her consistent production and perimeter shooting made her an essential part of Seton Hall’s offense, and her impact on the team could be seen immediately each time she stepped foot on the court.
Across the season, Catalon averaged 13.5 points per game, nearly doubling her average from the year prior, along with an average of 3.7 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. Her 36-point performance against DePaul on February 27 was a career high, as well as a team-high for the season.
From December 2 through February 8, Catalon scored in double digits in each of the Pirates’ nine games within that timespan. This stretch contributed to her three Big East Weekly Honor Roll selections.
Numerous other accolades that she achieved during the season included a Big East Player of the Week award for the week of March 3, as well as two MBWA Division I Player of the Week Honorable Mentions.
As Seton Hall prepares for the upcoming season, Catalon is picking up where she left off, earning the Iron Pirate honor for week one of team practice. Her coaches will note that she is always eager to grow, but it is the standard that she sets for her teammates through her work ethic and dedication that can not be taught.
After another offseason of working to develop her game even further, Catalon looks to follow up her incredible 2024-25 campaign as a key talent and leader of the Pirates’ squad. It is safe to say that a Seton Hall team led by Savannah Catalon will make for an exciting season of Pirates basketball.
