With the 2024-2025 Seton Hall women’s basketball season rapidly approaching, Tony Bozzella and the Pirates are looking to make a strong push to get back to the NCAA tournament this year. He and his coaching staff added numerous talents in the off-season, one of them being graduate student-Virginia transfer Kaydan Lawson, a 6-foot guard from Beachwood, Ohio.

Lawson played 83 games with 21 starts as a Cavalier, averaging 4.4 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game. She has proved herself throughout her career playing basketball to be lethal, especially when a lane is open, as well as versatile both distributing and shooting.

When Lawson was a student at the University of Virginia, Lawson was balancing a pre-med degree, while still being a leader on and off the court.  Lawson will enter the Pirates organization as a graduate student, with one year of playing eligibility left in her career.

In an interview with Coach Bozzella, he had very positive words to share about Lawson spending her last year as a Pirate. “We are so excited with Kaydan becoming a Pirate. She will be a tremendous addition up front for our basketball program, on and off the court.”

Even in high school, Lawson was a force to be reckoned with. She was an All-ACC American student, recording over 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in three years at Orange High School. Before entering the NCAA, in her senior year, Lawson averaged 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 3.1 steals.

The Pirates finished the 2023-2024 season with a 17-15 record. With a wide variety of transfers with experience in all different conferences, Tony Bozzella and the team anticipate going even further in the season, especially in Big East play. Seton Hall women's basketball kicks off their year of play on November 2nd here in South Orange at Walsh Gymnasium, against the Jefferson Rams.
