Over the years, the Seton Hall Pirates have had a number of impactful transfer players join the Women’s Basketball Program, including Azana Baines from Virginia Tech, Kae Satterfield from Xavier, Yaya Lops from St. Bonaventure, and most recently Faith Masonius from the University of Maryland. Now, Jordana Codio looks to make her mark as the latest edition of the Pirates’ acquisitions from the portal.
On April 22, 2025, Codio committed to Seton Hall after spending her first three years
at the University of Texas. This past year, the Longhorns made it to the Final Four
of the NCAA Tournament. Codio brings this experience with her to the Pirates, being
a proven leader and, most importantly, a winner.
In a radio special that aired this past July, Codio, alongside teammates Jada Eads,
Savannah Catalon, and Head Coach Tony Bozzella, sat down with members of the WSOU
sports staff. Codio was asked the question “what were you able to take away from your
time with the Longhorns that you will be able to apply this year with the Pirates?”
To this question, she responded that “there are a lot of things that I will take from
there and bring here. One of them is defensive principles because it was a very gritty
defensive strategy. It honestly reminds me of how [Seton Hall] plays defense. Like
the gritty, tough aspect of guarding and taking things personally.”
Codio seems that she will fit in nicely with the Pirates’ defensive mindset, which
Coach Bozzella mentioned is how they were able to win many of their games last season.
Overall, the Pirates have quite the player in Jordana Codio, whose potential is robust.
With Seton Hall’s opener set for November 4, Pirate fans should keep an eye out for
Codio, as she brings her talents into her debut in the blue and white.
