On May 6th, 6-foot-6, 220-pound Toronto native Elijah Fisher officially transferred to Seton Hall. Fisher, a member of the Class of 2022 from Crestwood, was a five-star favorite recruit out of high school.
The senior guard transferred from Pacific University, where he averaged 15.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game last season for the Tigers, a team that ranked top five in the WCC in points per game. Moving from a mid-major like the WCC to the BIG EAST gives Fisher a chance to prove himself on a bigger platform, so do not be surprised if Fisher plays a pivotal role for the Pirates this season.
Seton Hall struggled offensively last year, finishing with a 7-25 overall record in what was Coach Shaheen Halloway’s toughest season at the helm. With Fisher joining the roster, he could be the next X-factor that will help Seton Hall push for a playoff appearance.
The team averaged just 61.6 points per game last year, which ranked 363rd among all the NCAA teams. Fisher’s influence and scoring capabilities could spark a major turnaround and help Seton Hall build a strong future.
Fisher’s background is impeccable, as he competed for Crestwood Prep’s varsity team as a seventh grader, making early waves with his unwavering athleticism, vision, and most of all, his leadership.
Coach Holloway acknowledged Fisher’s ability to adapt to a new team environment, having transitioned between several institutions like Texas Tech, DePaul, and Pacific before arriving at Seton Hall.
With his successful record of accomplishment, Fisher is set to provide amazing leadership and mentorship to younger players during his tenure at Seton Hall. The BIG EAST creates new challenges for Fisher, but his experience playing in different conferences gives him an advantage.
As Seton Hall rebuilds a fresh new team and leadership, Fisher’s influence is expected to extend well beyond the stats. Not only does he boost their offensive capability, but he also brings a rugged, winning mentality that could help push the Pirates toward a playoff appearance.
Fisher will make his Pirate debut when Seton Hall hosts St. Peter’s on Monday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m.
