Seton Hall has built a reputation for developing tough, hard-nosed players who represent the program’s identity. This year, one of the newest Pirates hoping to make her mark is sophomore forward Cam Rust, a transfer from Penn State who brings size, hustle, and a strong inside presence to South Orange.

Rust, 6-foot-1 out of Wakefield, Rhode Island, appeared in 19 games for the Penn State Nittany Lions last season, where she showed flashes of her potential. Her best outing came early in the year when she recorded a ten-point, ten-rebound double-double against Canisius University.

Before her time at Penn State, Rust put together an impressive career at Worcester Academy, averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds per game and earning recognition as a four-star prospect.

With the Pirates, Rust has a chance to take on a bigger role and add depth to a frontcourt that values effort and physicality. She’s the type of player who can change a game without needing the spotlight, grabbing key rebounds, battling for loose balls, and doing all of the little things that help a team win.

Rust has a real chance to carve out a large role with Seton Hall. Her ability to finish inside, crash the boards, and bring constant effort on both ends of the floor fits perfectly with the Pirates’ gritty style of play. With a roster that blends experienced returners and talented newcomers, Rust looks to emerge as a player that makes a big difference as the season moves along.

As she settles into Seton Hall’s system, Rust’s mix of energy and toughness could make her an important piece for the Pirates this season. She may be new to the Big East, but her attitude and work ethic already fit right in with what this program stands for.
