The Seton Hall Men’s Basketball team made a splash this offseason, bringing in star point guard Adam “Budd” Clark. The All-MAAC First Team member comes from Merrimack, where he averaged 16.6 points per game in two years.

There’s plenty for the Pirates to be excited about. Clark fills a massive hole at the one position left after Garway Dual transferred to McNeese following last season. Dual improved as the season went on and was one of the bright spots on a team that won six games.

Clark brings a healthy mix of scoring, ball movement, and defense to South Orange. He led Merrimack and ranked 23rd in the country with 19.8 points per game. Across 33 games, Clark was fifth in the nation in steals (85) and finished top 20 across Division One with 198 assists.

The five-time MAAC Player of the Week scored in double figures in all but one game last year and also passed 20 points 16 times. The Pirates are now much improved at the point guard position, and Clark has the potential to find himself on an All-Conference team come March.

Clark stands at 5-foot-10 and averaged 4.4 rebounds per game. That says something about Clark’s determination to be a monster across the floor. He also averaged 37 minutes per game last year, proving he can be a workhorse for Shaheen Holloway.

According to NJ.com's Jerry Carino, Clark’s former teammate and current Dayton Flyer, Jordan Derkack said, “He’s a dog, man.”

“He came in as a freshman and battled me from day one," Derkack said. "We almost got into several fights that first summer, but I built up a super respect for him. I know we’ll be friends for a long time.”

Clark and the Pirates open the season on Monday, November 3rd, against Saint Peter’s. Clark will help out a Seton Hall offense that ranked last in the BIG EAST last year and has every Pirate fan anxiously awaiting the start of the new season.
