WASHINGTON – The Seton Hall Pirates (9-3-1) fell to the No. 17 Georgetown Hoyas (7-3-4) on Saturday afternoon, 2-0. Following their win against Butler last weekend, the Pirates aimed for a second consecutive victory in BIG EAST play.

The action picked up quickly in the first half. Georgetown showcased their offensive strength, maintaining possession and wearing down Seton Hall's defense. Matias Molina managed to regain possession for the Pirates four times before their first shot on goal.

The Pirates' offense was also buzzing throughout the first half. Shots by Tim Strobeck and Til Kauschke were saved by Georgetown’s Tenzing Mankse in the opening eight minutes. Despite The Hall's eagerness to maintain their aggressive momentum, Georgetown matched their intensity, fighting back just as hard.

The next ten minutes saw back-and-forth action between the Pirates and the Hoyas. Georgetown's Matty Helfrich eventually broke through with the Hoyas' first shot, but Molina made a clean stop, earning his first save of the game.

Two minutes later, Georgetown’s Zach Zengue fired another shot on goal, but Molina blocked it low right for his second save. Matthew Van Horn repositioned quickly and fired another shot, but the Pirates' defense held strong again. After multiple fouls and offside calls, Georgetown subbed out their fatigued starting lineup.

Georgetown’s Eric Howard got right into the action, firing a shot on goal that was stopped by Molina. Jack Heaps collected the rebound and scored with an assist from Cole Parete, putting the Hoyas up 1-0 in the 31st minute.

Four minutes later, Seton Hall swapped out their starting lineup for a fresh squad. Julian Barrios Cristales took a shot for Georgetown, but Molina made another save. The first half ended with the Hoyas leading 1-0 over the Pirates.

The second half started with Georgetown controlling possession. Joe Buck took a shot that went high and wide, then fired again, but Matias Molina made a low left-side save. After a blocked shot, Marlon Tabora scored during the scramble, doubling the Hoyas' lead to 2-0.

The game remained intense, with nearly 12 minutes of back-and-forth possession as both teams fought hard. Georgetown sought to extend their lead while the Pirates pushed for a goal. Despite several shots from Seton Hall, none found the back of the net, and Molina saved a shot from Blaine Mabie.

Seton Hall’s loss drops them to 9-3-1 on the season and a middling record of 2-2-1 in BIG EAST play. With the 2-0 victory, No. 17 Georgetown improves to 4-1 in BIG EAST play with an overall record of 7-3-4. The Pirates will continue conference play at home on Wednesday against St. John’s, with kickoff scheduled for 6:56 p.m.
