WASHINGTON — The Seton Hall men's basketball team (6-18, 1-12) faltered down the stretch Saturday as the Georgetown Hoyas (15-9, 6-7) prevailed 60-46 at Capital One Arena. The Pirates have lost nine consecutive games, all to BIG EAST opponents.

The Pirates got off to a hot start offensively, with Jahseem Felton draining a 3-pointer to open the scoring. His teammates backed him up, building a 15-9 lead through the first seven and a half minutes. Godswill Erheriene contributed by sinking two free throws, and Prince Aligbe converted an and-one to keep the Pirates in front.

Seton Hall led for most of the first half, holding a 22-18 advantage with five minutes remaining. However, Georgetown closed the half on a 16-4 run. Six points from Micah Peavy and 3-pointers by Malik Mack and Caleb Williams gave the Hoyas a 34-26 lead at halftime.

Coach Holloway’s offense got off to a quick start once again, going on a 7-2 run in two minutes to cut the deficit to three early in the second half. Erheriene and Isaiah Coleman fueled the momentum with a dunk and a 3-pointer, respectively.

The Hall stayed close for the next 12 minutes, keeping the Hoyas' lead at three in a defensive struggle. However, four costly turnovers in the final five minutes sealed the Pirates' fate as Georgetown went on a 12-1 run to close out the game.

After a dramatic loss in their previous matchup with Georgetown, the Pirates closed the season series in uncompetitive fashion, falling 60-46.

Turnovers were a major problem for the Pirates on Saturday afternoon as they committed 20 while only forcing 11 from the Hoyas. Garwey Dual, once again serving as the primary ballhandler, led the team with four turnovers.

Points in the paint were also a major factor in the loss, as the Pirates allowed 34 down low while scoring only 22.

Despite the loss, Coleman bounced back for Seton Hall after a three-game stretch in which he averaged 7.3 points per game. He recorded his second double-double and eighth game this season with more than 20 points.

The Hall also got a solid performance from freshman Godswill Erheriene, who scored a career-high eight points and tied a career high with seven rebounds.

For the Hoyas, Peavy led the scoring with 22 points, including 15 in the first half. Freshman Thomas Sorber recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

The Pirates will be back in action on Feb. 15, with a week to prepare before hosting the UConn Huskies. The last two times the Huskies traveled to the Prudential Center, they left with a loss. In their most recent matchup in Newark, the Pirates dominated, defeating the nation's top-ranked team 75-60.

Seton Hall and UConn are scheduled to tip off next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. WSOU's coverage will begin at 2 p.m., with Joe Morales and Spencer Gonzales on the call.
