Country music icon Dolly Parton passed today away at the age of 80.
Parton, born in 1946, became one of the most influential figures in American entertainment, known for her classics including “Jolene”, “9 to 5”, and “I Will Always Love You.” She earned 11 Grammys, 10 Country Music Association Awards, and has received major honors like the Kennedy Center Honors and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Parton also expanded her legacy beyond music. She co‑owned the Dollywood theme park in Tennessee and launched several business ventures, including a breakfast and baking line.
The cause of her death has not been released, though Parton has faced recent health challenges, including infections from her kidney stones and periods of physical exhaustion.
Earlier this year, Parton canceled her planned Las Vegas residency. In 2023, she performed at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving halftime show, appearing in a cheerleader outfit at age 77 - a moment that quickly went viral and underscored her enduring impact.
