The Seton Hall Pirates (1-1-3) took on the Sacred Heart Pioneers (1-2-2) on Thursday night in an exciting back-and-forth matchup that resulted in a 2-2 draw. The game featured a great defensive battle, a lot of physicality, and a late game scuffle as the final minutes ticked away, but neither team was able to come out on top with a win.

The first half of the game was heavily defensive as Seton Hall attempted six shots while not making any of them, and Sacred Heart failed to get their offensive rhythm going as they did not attempt a shot.

The Pirates came out swinging early attacking the Pioneers defense, but just could not get any shots to land for them, after nearly missing two kicks that sent the ball flying over the soccer goal instead of in it.

After a great showing of defense by both teams in the first half, both offenses were able to get going. Seton Hall got the first chance when Aiden Tisnoy broke the stalemate with a fantastic goal to give the Pirates the 1-0 lead around the 29-minute mark. The Pioneers would come back with a response of their own when Eli Stein scored a goal.

The Pirates would deliver another blow around the 13-minute mark when Hugo Gerbore would tally the Pirates' final goal.  The Pioneers refused to stay down though, as Javier Lopez Cayuela tied the game at two inside of the nine-minute mark.

Things got chaotic in the last five minutes of regulation when Liam Guske was pushed out of bounds by one of the Pioneer players and a big scuffle between both teams occurred.

This resulted in about a five-minute delay in the game with 16 seconds left to go inside of regulation as the refs were trying to calm both sides down and properly assess penalties to both teams. After the referees came back from their ruling, six yellow cards were assessed to both teams, with four being given to Sacred Heart, and two being given to Seton Hall.

Seton Hall finished this game with thirteen attempted shots while converting on two, and Sacred Heart finished the game with five attempted shots while making two.

The Pirates will be back in action Sunday night as they continue their homestand against Fairleigh Dickinson with Ryder Nuesell and Tommy Kvaloe on the call.  Kickoff is scheduled for 6:56 p.m.
