Seton Hall Remains Undefeated With 5-0 Win Over New Haven

NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT – The Seton Hall Pirates defeated the New Haven Chargers in a commanding 5-0 victory in an early season matchup this afternoon.  

 

The pressure started at the 39 second mark when Macie Mietz had the first shot on goal, which was saved by Alexia-Mae Goodman, yet it set the tone early in the match. The first goal came at the 9:08 mark for the Hall.

 

The next one came at 16:32, with Mietz finally getting a goal after another attempted shot and being assisted by Gianna Angelillo. Following the score, it would be a little under a ten-minute wait for the Pirates to start running away with the game when Nina Davis scored another goal in the 24th minute.

 

Kileigh Gorman got her second goal of the game in the 27th minute to blow the game open for the Pirates. After the barrage of 4 goals, the Hall remained quiet for the rest of the first half while playing stellar defense.

 

In the second half the Pirates would cap off their excellent game with one more goal in the 58th minute, when Angelillo scored while being assisted by Gianna Delgado.

 

The Pirates advanced to being 3-0 on the season after their game against Iona was postponed, however that does not take away the excellent start they have gotten off to.

 

Gorman was the leader in goals for today’s game, adding 2 more to her junior campaign and establishing herself as a leader for this squad along with Angelillo adding to her senior campaign. This team is a strong force in an early season so far and being atop the Big East, the Pirates need to continue doing everything they did in this game.

 

The Pirates come home for a 2-game homestand this week against Saint Peters and Wagner. Their next game against Saint Peters takes place on Thursday September 3rd at 4 PM.
