The Seton Hall Pirates Men’s Soccer team finished a three-game homestretch with a very impressive win over No. 15 ranked St. Johns Saturday afternoon, by a score of 1-0. The Pirates move to 3-0-1 as they start Big East play.

Like mentioned in the pregame article, Seton Hall continued their fast start play as they scored in the first two minutes. Midfielder Paavo Rihijarvi got his first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by J.P. Marin. Marin adds another point to his total after having two in their last game.

The Pirates like they have for much of this homestretch dominated the match as they shut out their opponent for a third straight game. Seton Hall finished with nine shots, sic of them being on goal. While St. Johns was limited to 1 shot none of them being on goal. The Pirates stuck with one goalkeeper today as Andreas did not have a relatively light day not having to make any saves.

Despite the stellar play of the Pirates, they have continued to not be able to escape the whistle of the refs. Seton Hall was tacked with 11 fouls. Andrea Borg and Paavo Rihijarvi were both yellow carded. Going into this game St. Johns was ranked 15th by College Soccer News, so this is a huge win for the Pirates as Big East play has just begun. This is The Halls first win against the Red Storm since 2007. The Pirates will go on to face No.1 ranked Georgetown on Wednesday March third at 2:00 p.m. in Washington D.C. who just finished their first game of the season with a 3-0 win over Villanova.
