Seton Hall put their undefeated season on the line on Friday night as they hosted Princeton. After 60 minutes on the ice, the Pirates’ undefeated season is still intact, as they came away with a resounding 6-1 victory.

Seton Hall started strong for much of the first period. They got their reward with 11:51 left in the period, as Jimmy Griffin found the back of the net. He rifled the puck past Tigers’ goalie Aidan Porter to give Seton Hall a 1-0 lead.

Princeton responded rather quickly, leaving Seton Hall with nearly no time to admire their hard work. Christian O’Neil pounced on a loose puck in the Pirates zone and converted from close range. This occurred with 9:23 remaining in the first period, knotting the game at one goal apiece. The score would remain 1-1 for the rest of the first period.

The second period began similarly to the first period, with the Pirates looking like the more aggressive and dominant team. Thankfully for Pirate fans, they didn’t have to wait as long for the first goal of the second period. It took just over two minutes for Seton Hall to restore their lead, as Robby Anderson converted off a Princeton turnover to fire the Pirates ahead.

Anderson’s goal was not the last of the goals in the second period, however. Mike Volpi controlled the puck in the Princeton zone and sniped it into the top right corner, leaving the goalie with no chance. Seton Hall grabbed a 3-1 lead with 9:32 left in the second period. The second period would see no further scoring plays.

The third period blew the doors right off the entire game. Pirates captain Tom Healy led by example, rocketing the puck into the back of the opposition’s net very early into the third period. This handed Seton Hall a 4-1 lead with 19:13 remaining in the game.

At that moment, the Pirates smelled blood in the water. They were the first to every loose puck, to every rebound and won every faceoff from here-on-out. Nick Serapiglia got in on the action midway through the third period, scoring a goal with 9:38 left, stretching Seton Hall’s lead to 5-1.

Last, but not least was Cam Toussaint’s goal. This has every element of a SportsCenter top-10 play, as Toussaint skated through the entire Tigers defense not just once, but two times. He circled around, waiting for his teammates to get into attacking position, but when he realized they weren’t coming to his aide, he decided to take it himself. The sixth and final goal of the night gave the Pirates a 6-1 lead with 5:53 remaining.

An incredible performance by every Pirate in this game, Seton Hall improves to an impressive 8-0 record on the season. They hit the road to battle UPenn in their next game, which is set for Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1:20 p.m. Be sure to keep up to date with all things Seton Hall sports by following WSOU Sports on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
