Seton Men’s Hockey

It was a tough Saturday night for the Seton Hall Pirates hockey team, as they took on the Millersville Marauders at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange, N.J. The Pirates dropped the game by a score of 10-3.

While it may seem negative on the scoresheet, there were some very good performances tonight by the Pirates goalie Adam Spitz had 30 saves in two periods. Add to that a good performance from Cam Toussaint, who had two assists on the night, as well as Thomas Healy and Jimmy Griffin, who each had a goal and assist.

On the other side of the ice standouts for the Marauders included goalie Jackson Bell, who only let in three goals on 37 shots. Another star was center Chris Henn, who ended the night with three points—contributing two goals and one assist, as well as Cole McCulley, who also had two goals and one assist.

The Pirates biggest issue tonight was their defense, while it started off fairly strong in the early stages of the first period, as time went on, it seemed that Millersville had the strategy figured out. Another issue that should be of note for both sides of the ice is penalty minutes. Overall, the Pirates had a total 21 minutes behind the penalty box glass, and Millersville ended the night with 26.

The Pirates are a good hockey team they have proved that time and time again, whether that be against a dominate Penn team or a Monmouth team, and this just felt like a very off night for the Seton Hall hockey team against a team that played exceptionally well.

If this team is firing on all cylinders, they are the team to beat in the league with guys like Healy and Toussaint going out there every night, it will be hard to deny that they will win hockey games. If they continue to play aggressive and physical like they have the past few games things will start to look up again for the Pirates.

Looking into the future, the Pirates look to bounce back as they take on the Bryn Athyn Lions at Richard J. Codey Arena, with a start time of 9:15 p.m. The Lions are currently 4-1 on the season, and the Pirates now have two losses on the season. Be sure to listen to the broadcast on wsou.net on Nov. 20!
