The Seton Hall Pirates men’s soccer team extended their regular season undefeated streak to 12 on Tuesday after defeating the Army Black Knights by a final score of 3-2 in overtime. The streak dates back to March of last season, when they lost 2-1 in overtime on the road to Georgetown.
Tuesday’s win also extends their away winning streak, which also dates back to last year, to four games.
The Pirates jumped out to an early lead in the 23rd minute, when Raz Amir scored his second goal of the season off a beautiful cross into the center of the box from Johannes Pex, for his fourth assist of the season. CJ Tibbling was also credited with an assist, his second of the season.

Seton Hall’s lead wouldn’t last long, as just ten minutes later, when Army’s freshman forward Brandon Bryant ripped an unassisted screamer into the top right corner to equalize at one.
The score would remain 1-1 deep into the second half when Paavo Riihijarvi scored his second goal in the 74th minute off a header from a corner kick by none other than James Boote, for his second assist of the season.

A one goal lead with just over 15 minutes to play was not enough for one of the Big East’s best keepers, Andreas Nota, as an 86th minute shot from John Poncy made its way just over his head to tie the game, assisted by Jack Eaton and Luke Doyle. This goal would send the game to overtime.

In overtime, it would be Pex, who assisted Amir on the first goal of the game, who ended it off an amazing shot, just six minutes into overtime. He put the ball past Army goalie Jacob Suppiah outside the penalty box and near the far sideline for his third of the season. Saint Peters transfer Jordan Jowers was also credited with his fourth assist of the year.
