Seton Hall basketball in back at The Pru, where the Seton Hall Pirates (14- 9, 7-5 CONF) will take on the DePaul Blue Demons (9-14, 3-9 CONF) on Sunday afternoon.

The Pirates recently swept their season series with the St. John’s Red Storm when they defeated them in Queens, NY by a score of 84-72.

The players to watch for The Hall are the start guards, junior Kadary Richmond and Clemson-transfer Al-Amir Dawes.

Kadary Richmond is coming off of one of his most complete games this season. Against St. John’s, he complemented his 15 points with 13 rebounds. He also flirted with a triple-double, dishing out seven assists. Richmond showed up on the defensive side of the ball as well, collecting three steals.

Al-Amir Dawes had one of his best games as a Pirate on Wednesday in Queens. He scored a game-high 21 points on 5-of-14 shooting, but shot 55% from three. Dawes hit back-to-back threes midway through the second half to help the Pirates regain the lead, a lead they held on to for the remainder of the match.

As for DePaul, they enter the match winless in BIG EAST road games, including giving Georgetown their first conference win since they won the BIG EAST tournament two years ago. They’re on a four-game losing streak.

With that being said, the Blue Demons do have some bucket getters on their roster. They have two players who average 15+ point a night.

Grad student Javan Johnson scored an efficient 19 points in a loss to No. 24 UConn on Jan. 31. He went 7 for 9 from the field, 4 for 6 from three, but went 1 for 4 from the charity stripe. A consistent 10 to 15-point scorer and someone who shoots 40% from three on the year, Johnson is someone the Pirates need to watch out for.

Oklahoma transfer Umoja Gibson had a rough outing against UConn. He scored eight points on 3-of-10 shooting. But prior to that, he had 24 and 25 points in his games against Georgetown and Marquette. On top of also shooting 40% from three, his 50 steals on the year are the best on the Blue Devils.

So far this season, the Pirates are 8-3 at home compared to DePaul’s 2-7 away record.

Seton Hall currently leads the all-time matchup 22-9.

Tip-off is at noon at the Prudential Center. Will Swankie and Chris Kiely will be on the call, with pre-game coverage starting at 11:30 on WSOU 89.5 FM.
