The Seton Hall Pirates (13-8, 6-5 CONF) take on the St. John’s Red Storm (17-3, 8-3 CONF) on Tuesday night in the second matchup this season between the two teams. The first time these two BIG EAST rivals faced off was back on Jan. 4 where the Pirates took down the then No. 24 ranked Red Storm 72-51 in historic Walsh Gymnasium. The Hall’s victory handed St. John’s their first loss of the season.

To recap the last matchup, Seton Hall took a commanding lead early on in the first quarter and never looked back. Two Pirates finished the game with a double-double, the first being Sidney Cooks who finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The second Pirate was Lauren Park-Lane who finished with 15 points and 11 assists.

However, the player of the game was Amari Wright who came off the bench and scored 17 points with seven steals.

All three of those players were huge contributors to The Hall’s victory against the Red Storm, and they’re going to need another top performance from them as the Pirates have hit a slump.

Seton Hall has dropped their last four games after being victorious 11 out of the last 12 before that. The Pirates were supposed to play against DePaul this past Saturday, but that game was postponed due to DePaul not having enough players. This will be the Pirates’ fifth away game in their last six games.

Seton Hall will be looking to get back in the win column and right the ship. Senior captain Lauren Park-Lane will be looking to do the same as well. Park-Lane’s three-point percentage is down from 39.2% of last season to 25.5% this season.

The struggle from deep has not only been a change to her game, but The Hall’s game as well. Despite these struggles, Lauren Park-Lane is still averaging 19.3 points per game and six assists per game.

Another Pirate that’ll be a key to victory in a tough road matchup is going to be Penn State transfer Shay Hagans. Seton Hall’s last game was against Georgetown and despite the loss, Hagans finished the game with 10 points and three steals.

Hagans is an instant impact player and is one of the best defenders on this team. Averaging almost a pair of steals a game (1.8), Hagans will need to lead the way to get the Seton Hall Pirates back in the win column.

Now looking over to the opponent, the St. John’s Red Storm are one of the top teams in the BIG EAST and they are led by Pitt transfer Jayla Everett. Everett leads the team with 16.9 points per game and has scored double digits points in 19 of the Red Storm’s 20 games.

Seton Hall looks to right the ship in the Red Storm. Gametime is 7:00 p.m. and WSOU will have your coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. on 89.5 FM. Ryan Henry and Will Swankie will be on the call.
