Derrick Henry bulldozes his way over the Colts in Week Seven.

Tennessee Titans: 4-2

Indianapolis Colts: 3-3-1

Jacksonville Jaguars: 2-5

Houston Texans: 1-4-1

The Titians Outplay the Colts, 19-10

The Titans were able to add to their divisional lead by getting a key victory last weekend. Ryan Tannehill threw for 132 yards with Austin Hooper being the lead receiver. Derrick Henry ran all over the Colts defense with 30 carries for 128 yards.

The defense was the star of the show with two interceptions, one of which got returned for a touchdown by safety Andrew Adams. They also kept the Colts offense to under 300 total yards and sacked Matt Ryan three times.

Next, up for the Titans, they play the Houston Texans.

The Colts Offense Struggles Again

Coming into the season, there was a lot of hope that the Colts offense would be a juggernaut with Matt Ryan helm. By Monday, however, Matt Ryan got benched, and Sam Ehlinger now takes over the reins.

Matt Ryan threw for 243 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions, with Johnathan Taylor running for 58 yards. Paris Campbell was the leading receiver with 10 receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown.

The defense could not stop the run but held the Titans offense to field goals. It will be interesting to see what the offense looks like next week as they take on the Commanders.

Jaguars Lose a Nail Bitter to the Giants, 23-17

The Jaguars put up a real fight against the then 5-1 Giants by making it a game that came down to the last possession.

Trevor Lawrence went 22/43 with 310 passing yards with his leading receiver being Christian Kirk with 96 receptions. Travis Etienne cemented his starting role with 114 rushing yards and a touchdown on the day.

The main reason for the loss was all the penalties the Jaguars committed, 13 for 81 yards. Jacksonville’s opportunities were limited, with the Giants having 34 minutes of possession compared to the Jaguars 25.

The Jags are no longer the laughingstock of the league and will look to improve to 3-5 as they face the Broncos in London.

Texans Fall Short to the Raiders, 38-20

The Texans got outmatched by the better team in the Raiders this week. Davis Mills had a decent game with 302 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while rookie Dameon Pierce had another stand-out performance with 20 carries and 92 yards. Tight end Jordan Akins led the charge in reception yards with 68 while Phillip Dorsett and Chris Moore each had a receiving touchdown.

The defense could not stop the running game of the Raiders, letting up 164 yards to Josh Jacobs and the rushing attack. It also did not help that the Texans could not convert in the red zone, going one for three on the day. Next up, they play their divisional rivals, the Titans.

Week 7 Awards

This week’s MVP goes to Derrick Henry and his 128 rushing yards. Henry controlled the game by leading the way in the rushing attack. Even though he did not score a touchdown, he helped his team maintain possession and let his defense rest.

The offensive player of the week goes to Travis Etienne with 114 yards and a touchdown against a stingy Giants defense. Etienne had one the best games of his young NFL career and kept the Jaguars in the game. With James Robinson gone, he is now the focal point of the Jaguars rushing game and should be a dominant force.

The defensive player of the week goes to safety Andrew Adams. His pick-six gave the Titans the extra boost needed to spring ahead in this game. The defense as a whole was able to shut down the Colts offense even though their own offense was sputtering.

Next week we will focus on the NFC West.
