The Seton Hall Pirates (13-9, 4-7 Conf.) fell to the No. 15 Creighton Blue Jays (19-3, 11-0 Conf.) after three sets Friday in Walsh Gymnasium.

The Pirates were swept for their third straight game in route to their sixth consecutive defeat. Following the loss, they slipped to seventh place in the Big East Conference.

Offensively, Seton Hall was led by Jenna Walsh and Laila Wallace who each contributed five kills. For Creighton, Norah Sis was dominant as she added 13 kills to go along with eight digs.

The Pirates were unable to establish a presence early as they lost set one 25-16. The offensive onslaught from Creighton, who came into the matchup winners of 10 straight, was led by Kiana Schmidt who accounted for seven kills during the period.

Through one, the Blue Jays were able to command possession with a .64 to .46 SO% advantage. Creighton also held the Pirates to just a .13 hit percentage compared to their stronger .25.

For Seton Hall, Jenna Walsh and Perri Lucas led the team in kills with two a piece after set one. Madsion Klungel contributed three assists and helped to set up Lucas on her attacks.

Set two saw a much stronger start for the Pirates, as they were able to tie the Blue Jays at nine after opening the set at a 6-1 disadvantage. However, the was the closest they would get in the period – eventually dropping the set 25-16.

Seton Hall accounted for 10 kills during this period, slightly improving on their total from set one. Perri Lucas and Jenna Walsh continued to be the sources of offense for the Pirates. They each accounted for two kills once again and were joined by Laila Wallace who contributed three in set two.

To open set three, it was Creighton who reestablished dominance to open the period. The Blue Jays began the set with a 16-3 advantage and eventually closed out the game 25-11.

The final set was the largest disparity in kills between each team. Creighton had a 16-4 advantage while Seton Hall struggled to string together consecutive points.

The Pirates will try to bounce back on Oct. 29 against Xavier. Justin Nicosia and Louis Pasculli will call this “Halloween at the Hall” matchup on 89.5 WSOU.
