Recap: Seton Hall Gets Swept by No. 11 Oklahoma State in Four Games

Game 1 – by: John Makuch
After picking up a win against No. 11 Florida, the Seton Hall Pirates began their trip to Stillwater, Okla. to take on the No. 7 Oklahoma State Cowboys.
In the first matchup, the Pirates were unable to pick up a victory as the Cowboys’ offense got going in the fourth inning. Oklahoma State picked up two home runs, as well as a double that drove a run in.
Seton Hall gave up four runs in another inning, this one being the bottom of the sixth. Aaron Groller came in relief, but the Cowboys came out swinging yet again. He gave up a home run and three straight walks, causing another pitcher to come in. However, the Cowboys got a three-RBI double to put their run total at nine.

Victor Mederos got the win for the Cowboys and picked up three strikeouts in just over six innings to give Oklahoma State a 10-3 victory.
Game 2 – by: Michael Federico
The Seton Hall baseball team (1-14) fell to the No. 11 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, 11-1, on Friday night at O’Brate Stadium in Stillwater, Okla.
Seton Hall found themselves down one run in the bottom of the second thanks to a Jake Thompson solo homerun.
The Cowboys lead only continued to grow in the bottom of the third where they tallied six more runs. Four of those runs scored were from walks, a hit batsman, and a passed ball.

The Seton Hall men’s baseball team lost their third straight game on Saturday to the Oklahoma State Cowboys. The final score was 8-4, with pitcher Joe Cinella (0-1) picking up the loss after giving up eight hits for five runs in three innings for the Pirates.
The Cowboys got out to an early 2-0 lead after a pickoff attempt got away from the Pirates in the first inning. Nolan McLean for the Cowboys then hit an out of the park, 472-foot homerun to make it 3-0 in the second inning.
The Cowboys continued to add to their lead and scored five more runs throughout the third, fourth, and fifth innings to make it 8-0. The Pirates then retaliated with a three-run homerun from Staus Pokrovsky in the fifth inning to make it 9-3.

The Pirates would add one more run to make it 8-4 after an RBI double from Jedier Hernandez in the seventh inning, but the Cowboys held on for the victory.
Starting pitcher Hunter Waldis was only able to go 1.1 innings where he struck out one, had six walks, allowed three hits and seven runs, all of which were earned. Waldis also gets the loss and that now brings his record to 0-4 on the season with a 12.32 ERA.
The lone bright spot for the Pirates was the freshman catcher Hernandez, who went 3/3 with two doubles and Seton Hall’s only RBI. The freshman from Trenton, N.J. had three of the Pirates’ six hits.
Game 4 – by: Joe Walls
In the final game of a series against the Oklahoma State Cowboys, the Seton Hall men’s baseball team lose a close one by a score of 6-4. The Pirates offense could not seem to get going most of the game, though it was led by Will Gale and Colin Sheehan who had three out of the Pirates five hits.

Brennan O’Neill started for the Pirates, tossing four innings and only getting one strikeout, and Zane Probst is credited with the loss after throwing another 3.2 innings. Each pitcher allowed three runs.
Jake Thompson was the star for the Cowboys, collecting four RBIs on a double and home run. Kale Davis started the matchup and threw four innings, however Brayden Root got the win after throwing one inning.
The Pirates now fall to 1-16 on the season and look to bounce back against NJIT on Tuesday at Owen T. Carroll Stadium in South Orange, N.J. Tune into 89.5 FM WSOU online for that game.
