In the final regular season game for the Seton Hall men’s basketball team (20-9, 11-8 conference) they took care of business on the road and defeated the Creighton Blue Jays (20-10, 12-7 conference) by a score of 65-60.

What a win it was, as the Pirates trailed for a majority of the game in Omaha, Neb. with a deficit as large as 11, but they fought and clawed their way back all game. It takes a lot of grit to take down a team that has been as hot as the Creighton Blue Jays in their home stadium on their Senior Day, achieving their first sweep of the Jays since 2018-2019.

The bench was really the highlight of this game, with the majority of the points coming from them in the first half. Looking at the stat leaders for the Pirates, Jared Rhoden leads the way with 19 points in 39 minutes, as well as a standout performance from Jamir Harris, who ended with 14 points and Tyrese Samuel, who ended the game with 13 on 5/9 shooting and five rebounds.

This was a big win for the Pirates, as they now have even more momentum going into the Big East tournament.

Going over to the Creighton side, the stars were definitely loud for the Blue Jays, as Ryan Kalkbrenner ended the night with 17 points on 5/9 shooting from the field in 33 minutes, as well as Ryan Hawkins, who also ended with 38 minutes.

However the big stories from this game included Kadary Richmond going down with injury in the first half and not returning as well as the foul trouble, as the Pirates committed 16 fouls. Ike Obiagu fouled out late in the second half, as well as Tray Jackson, who also ended with three on the night.

The final stat line for the Pirates in this game included shooting 42% from the field, 41% from beyond the arc, as well as 57% from the line. Comparably, Creighton went for 39% from the field, 33% from three and 83% from the line.

Looking ahead for the Pirates, it’s tournament time, as they will take on Georgetown on Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. in the first round of the Big East men’s tournament. Michael Daly and Heaven Hill will be on the call!
