The Seton Hall women’s basketball team (7-7, 2-4 conference) picked up a huge victory over Providence (8-8, 3-4 conference) Sunday afternoon, taking down the Friars, 62-42.
The Pirates were in total control from the get-go, getting out to a 14-3 lead to start things off. They would never relinquish that lead and forced Providence to play from behind the entire afternoon.

Seton Hall bounces back in a BIG way with a 20-point win at Providence.
Lauren Park-Lane erupted for 30 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals!!

They played excellent defense in the contest, holding the Friars to just 25.9% from the field (15-58), and 0% from three (0-11), and forcing 20 turnovers. Perhaps the most impressive part of their performance came late in the game, as the Pirates held the Friars to just four points in the fourth and final quarter of play.
There were a number of great storylines to take away from the victory for the Pirates. The first thing to jump out is the performance of Lauren Park-Lane. She absolutely dominated, dropping 30 points, just two shy of her career high.

To add to the scoring totals, she tallied five assists, five rebounds, and four steals. Park-Lane was a one-woman wrecking crew on the court, almost single-handedly willing the Pirates to victory. Only five Pirates even made a bucket on the afternoon, but Park-Lane scored enough for several players.

The Pirates also had a banner afternoon from Andra Espinoza-Hunter. She only tallied 11 points, but that total was enough to get her to 1,000 points in her illustrious collegiate career.

Another key contributor in the victory was Sidney Cooks, who put up a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, as well as five blocks.
Despite the loss, Providence saw some solid play from Olivia Olsen, who had a double-double for herself with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Pirates virtually shut down everyone on the Friars roster, as only Olsen and Janai Crooms even reached double-digit scoring, with 10 points apiece.
With the victory, the Pirates move back up to .500 on the season. A much-needed victory as Big East play continues, Coach Tony Bozzella’s squad will look to keep up their stellar play as they return from their short road trip.
