Ten Seton Hall seniors will be honored Sunday afternoon as the women’s soccer team faces the undefeated Georgetown Hoyas (10-0-6) for the team’s final game at Owen T. Carroll Field this season.

The Pirates enter this matchup on a seven-game losing streak while the Hoyas have won their last four. This game will also be Seton Hall’s final chance to win at home against a fellow Big East opponent this season.

Offensively, Seton Hall has been paced by juniors Naomi Welch and Julia Aronov, as they both have tallied four goals on the year. Sophie Liston leads the team in assists with five and Laura Hooper has the most shots on goal with 18.

Junior goalkeeper Grace Gordon has been solid in the net for the Pirates this season, as she has faced 207 shot attempts and ranks first in the Big East in saves (75).

As for the Hoyas, junior forward Gia Vicari ranks second in the Big East in goals this season (nine) and fourth in assists (seven). Georgetown’s goalkeeper Allie Augur has also been outstanding this season as she leads the conference in save percentage (86%).

Goals will be hard to come by for the Pirates, as Georgetown also ranks first in the Big East in shutouts and goals allowed. If Seton Hall isn’t careful, they could be in for a long afternoon against the Hoyas. The Hoyas are also one of the most disciplined teams in the conference as they rank near the bottom in offsides calls, fouls and yellow cards.

But while this may feel like a disappointing season for the Pirates, as they currently rank second-to-last in the Big East standings, Seton Hall has won the most games in a season since winning seven back in 2012. If this season is any indication of where the program is trending, Pirates fans should be ecstatic about the future of Seton Hall women’s soccer.
