Having faltered through a three-game losing streak, the Seton Hall women's basketball team (8-10, 3-7 conference) is looking to turn things around Wednesday night as the Georgetown Hoyas (7-10, 2-7 conference) come to town.

With the month of February starting up, the clock is ticking for this Pirates team to put things together down the home stretch of the Big East slate. Head coach Tony Bozzella’s squad certainly did not want to have a 3-7 in-conference record up to this point in the season, so this team needs to start putting the pieces together before it becomes too late.

As of late, the Pirates’ biggest issue has been putting up points, as the scoring attack of this team has been struggling. During this three-game skid, the Pirates have been outscored by a rather unfortunate 218-146 margin, losing the closest game by 19 to Marquette.

Over the course of the season, every single one of the Pirates victories have come in games where they scored 62 or more points. But the hole in that statistic comes via the fact that in half of their 10 losses, they have reached that magic number 62 and still been outscored.

To oversimplify this observation, this team cannot currently rely on their abilities on either end of the floor since their overall play has been inconsistent. Plain and simple, they have to get better and more efficient on both sides of the ball.

In terms of individual efforts, Sidney Cooks' career-high 32-point outburst was one of the few bright spots of the 20-point home loss to the DePaul Blue Demons. Cooks' offensive explosion kicked off from the tip as she made her first nine shot attempts. She also stood out on the defensive end, racking up another career record with seven blocks.

Despite the record-setting day from Cooks, the Pirates fell short due to poor shooting numbers, going 4/17 from three-point land as a team. It also does not help when star forward Andra Espinoza-Hunter has the worst offensive performance of her Pirates career.

In 34 minutes, Espinoza-Hunter went 0/8 from the floor and posted zero points in the scoring column. Seton Hall will need more cohesiveness and productivity from the depths of their roster if they hope to turn things around against Georgetown.

As for the Hoyas, they are led by the backcourt duo of Milan Bolden-Morris and Kelsey Ransom, who are each averaging around 13 points-per-game.

Bolden-Morris' three-point shooting abilities should be of concern to the Pirates, as the graduate student is shooting 42.7% from deep on a team-high 124 attempts. She is lethal from behind the three-point arc, and the Pirates guard defense will need to be on-point to slow her down.

As the flagship station for Seton Hall Women's basketball, WSOU will be bringing you the broadcast from the newly-renovated and historic Walsh Gymnasium for this Wednesday evening contest.
