Date: January 18, 2016Bury Tomorrow - Memories
Bury Tomorrow are a melodic metalcore band that sounds a lot like the metalcore bands that come from overseas, especially England and Australia. They combine a good amount of technical playing to thier melodic sound as well
RIYL: The Ghost Inside, Architects, I KIlled the Prom Queen
Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Not A Daughter
This is off a 3 song - 30 minute EP that does a great job of combining sludge and grindcore, two genres that aren't mixed too often. A couple years ago when Metalsucks did their best drummers, their drummer, Scott Hull, picked up the top honors even though he programs the drums, instead of playing it, for this band.
RIYL: Pig Destroyer, Napalm Death, Cephalic Carnage
Magrudergrind - Black Banner
Magrudergrind mizes grindcore and powerviolence into one project. They have a show coming up at the Acheron next month so if you like any of those genres you should definitely come out because they put on a destructive set.
RIYL: Weekend Nachos, Nails, Agoraphobic Nosebleed
Lycus - Solar Chamber
Lycus mixes a style of doom metal with death metal, but they do so in a way that almost feels eaiser to digest than both those genres on their own. If you like the RIYLs you'll really like this one.
RIYL: Yob, Windhand, Sleep
Conan - Revengeance
Another one of the doomier bands that I have heard who come from England. the RIYLs are the same as Lycus because their styles are both pretty similar.
RIYL: Yob, Windhand, Sleep
Degradead - The Blinding Crusade
Degradead are a Swedish Death metal act that does an interesting mix of melodic death metal with a thrashy and groovy sound. For some reason I think of Lamb of God for the opening vocals and the guitar work in this song, but maybe I'm crazy.
RIYL: Omnium Gatherum, Insomnium, Dark Tranquility
