The Seton Hall Baseball team (7-8 Overall) won a slugfest with the Oklahoma State Cowboys with a 10-7 on Friday night. Christian Del Castillo led the way offensively for the Pirates as he hit his first home run of the season and drove in three. Shane McCarthy was sharp in his start as he earned his first win of the season as he fired seven innings and did not give up an earned run. He had four unearned runs in the game while scattering nine hits. He also struck out four and walked one.

The Pirates struck early as Ryan Ramiz worked a walk to leadoff the second inning. A few batters later Del Castillo smacked a home run to right field to put the Pirates up by two. Seton Hall scored four more runs in a fourth-inning rally that started with a Mike Alescio double to left. Ramiz worked another walk right after that and advanced on an error that allowed Casey Dana to reach first, loading the bases for Del Castillo. He came through as he smacked an RBI single that drove home Alescio. Tyler Shedler-McAvoy joined the hit party as he hit his own bases-loaded single to drive home another. Rob Dadona capped off the rally with a two-run double to deep left-center to give the Pirates a 6-0 lead. Casey Dana made it a 7-0 lead in the next inning with an RBI single to left.

McCarthy ran into trouble on the mound in the seventh the inning started with an error by Dana at third base. Following a fielder's choice, the Cowboys offense took advantage as Cade Cabbiness smacked a double to put two runners in scoring position with one out. Dylan Gardner drove home both runs with a double to left-center to put the Cowboys on the board. He came home to score after a Matt Kroon RBI single to left. Colin Simpson drove him in with a base hit up the middle to make the score 7-4. McCarthy then drew a popup to end the inning and his day on the mound.

The Pirate offense began taking care of the Cowboy's mistakes in the ninth as a walk, a throwing error, and a single loaded the bases for Dana, who drew a four-pitch walk that brought home a run. Del Castillo then reached on a fielder's choice that brought in two runs, one coming via interference and another on a throwing error from the pitcher.

Kroon later provided late fireworks for the Cowboys with a three-run home run. Thanks to the three insurance runs the Pirates scored in the previous half inning, the Pirates were able to hang on and with the game 10-7.

Seton Hall will take on the Missouri State Bears on Saturday before they have a rematch with Oklahoma State on Sunday.
