WSOU to Air Top 50 Metal/Hardcore Bands Countdown on July 4th
Date: June 30, 2015South Orange, N.J. –As part of its 4th of July festivities, WSOU 89.5 FM will be counting down the Top 50 Metal/Hardcore bands as voted on by the station's current and alumni DJs. The countdown begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 4 and continues until to 8 p.m.
The countdown features a diversity of the bands both old and new. Listeners can expect to hear staple metal acts such as Metallica and Pantera, as well as more recent bands such as Mastodon and New Jersey's Dillinger Escape Plan.
"It is interesting to see who the WSOU staff thinks are the best metal bands in the scene today," said Rohit Ravi, WSOU's music director. "Adding alumni input to the selection process added a new perspective and produced for our listeners a nice mix of music from all the decades of the metal and hard rock."
Immediately following the aired countdown, WSOU will post on www.wsou.net the complete countdown playlist. In addition to its Top 50 Countdown, WSOU special programming for July 4th includes an Independence Day edition of its weekly program Veterans Now (Saturdays at 7:30 a.m.).
