WSOU to Air Band Interviews from New England Metal and Hardcore Festival

South Orange, N.J. –Beginning Monday, May 11and continuing through Tuesday, May 19, WSOU 89.5 FM will air each weekday at5 p.m.band and artist interviews conducted by Seton Hall University students at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival (NEMHF) in Worchester, Massachusetts. Conversations with members of classic bands such as Testament and Exodus as well as modern acts like Between the Buried and Me, The Agonist, and New Jersey's Suburban Scum will be aired among other band interviews from the famous weekend festival.

The interviews highlight each band's NEMHF experience, new albums, tours, and the future of metal and loud rock music. In addition to the daily5 p.m.airing, the interviews will be rebroadcast the following morning at8 a.m.and available online at www.wsou.net.  

"This festival is an event that brings together the metal and hardcore communities from all over North America," said WSOU's Tommy Willert, who coordinated the station's involvement with the NEMHF. "Since WSOU is a leader in the world of loud rock, our staff was able to access and interview some of the biggest bands in our format, as well as groups trying to break onto the scene."

The broadcast schedule of interviews is as follows:

May 11– Exodus

May 12–  Rivers of Nihil

May 13– Between the Buried and Me

May 14– Suburban Scum

May 15– The Agonist

May 16– Within the Ruins

May 18– Nails

May 19– Testament

"Covering music festivals as a member of the media is an amazing experience for students like me," said Willert, a former music director at the station. "The hands-on learning opportunities WSOU grants Seton Hall University students are incredible." Students from the station who reported on the NEMHF were responsible for all aspects of covering the festival, from arranging and conducting interviews to live reports from the venue to social media posts to editing and airing the interviews. "WSOU is simply a remarkable learning environment for anyone interested in the broadcast or music industries," added Willert.

Held each spring in Worchester, Massachusetts, the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival draws acts from multiple metal and hardcore sub-genres.
