WSOU Students and Alumnus Earn Honors

South Orange, N.J. –Broadcasters at WSOU 89.5 FM, the student-run radio station at Seton Hall University, have taken first and second place honors in the Garden State Journalists Association's annual awards competition. WSOU sports director Clayton Collier earned 1st place in the Sports Radio category for his produced introduction to the Seton Hall vs. Wichita State Men's Basketball game. Second place in the same category also went to WSOU, as students Clayton Collier, Vince Paolella, and Rohit Ravi were recognized for their play-by-play coverage of a WNIT game between the Seton Hall women's basketball team and Princeton University.

"In the Garden State Journalists Association's awards competition, Seton Hall students compete against professional broadcasters," said WSOU general manager Mark Maben. "It reflects positively on the education and training that our students receive when WSOU is honored along with stations like stations like WCBS, WNYC, and WGHT."

The awards will be presented at the association's 68th Annual Memorial Awards Dinner at The Chart House in Weehawken, N.J. on Wed., May 20, 2015. For more information, visit www.gsjournalists.com.

WSOU alumnus Joe Guzik, current Senior Vice President for Promotion and Integrated Marketing at Red Bull Records, was named "Indie Label Executive of the Year" at the Worldwide Radio Summit last week. A member of the class of 1995, Guzik was active at WSOU throughout his time as an undergraduate student at Seton Hall. The Worldwide Radio Summit is a global radio gathering held annually in Hollywood, Calif. This year's conference was took place April 22 –24. Additional information can be found at http://worldwideradiosummit.com.
