Interview with Brann from Mastodon

Date: May 18, 2015

Our Erica was able to interview Brann from Mastodon, He answers questions about Preforming with Clutch, Game of Thrones, Future plans, And More!!!

On Their Relationship with Clutch and their Missing Link Tour:

“We’re old friends, they took us out earlier in our career. And we’ve known them for a very long time and we have been trying to do this for a very long time. And now we are doing it and it’s awesome. But there is only two weeks left and I’m a little sad.”

On Writing the soundtrack for Game of Thrones:

“They came to us and told us they were interested, and they’ve done a mixtape thing before where it was all hip hop, and now they wanted to use more metal bands and one of the writers is a huge metal head and a Mastodon fan and talked to us of the possibility of doing a song. We decided on it and all we had to do was think of something, and I came up with something towards the end of our tour in December and sent to the guys, and they liked it. It came together really fast and it was a cool thing to do.”

On if they have any plans after their tour:

“Probably go on some more tours (haha). This is how it works, you put out a record, you tour for a couple of months or you tour as long as you can, and then you go home and it’s back to the drawing board. So whenever the cycle is over, we start getting together In our practice space and see what Mastodon is going to sound like in the future.”

Q: “If you weren’t in Mastodon, what would you be doing?”

A: “Probably working at a mini mart, I’m good at that, I can stock shelves. Something during a night shift. Or maybe painting houses, I used to work at a mini mart for like 3 years. So probably at your local gas station.”
