WSOU Set to Broadcast the Seton Hall University Baseball Team’s Appearance in the Big East Tournament

Date: May 24, 2017

South Orange, N.J. – WSOU 89.5 FM, the student-run station of Seton Hall University, will broadcast every game the school’s baseball team plays during the Big East Baseball Tournament in Omaha, Neb. The first game will air at 7:30 p.m. on May 25 as the Seton Hall Pirates take on the Creighton University Blue Jays.

Broadcasting live from the home of the College World Series, TD Ameritrade Park Omaha, the games will be hosted by WSOU Sports Director Kevin Huebler and senior Sean Saint Jacques. This is the Pirates’ seventh consecutive post season appearance.

The Big East Tournament is a double-elimination format and Seton Hall will continue to play until it has lost two games. The Pirates will play either St. John’s or Xavier on Friday. All games can be heard on 89.5 FM and the iHeartRadio app.

“This should be an exciting tournament, especially with Zach Prendergast on the mound for the first game,” said Huebler. Prendergast no-hit and pitched a complete game shutout against Villanova on Mother’s Day and has been Seton Hall’s best pitcher this season.

WSOU Station Manager Mark Maben noted that covering post season play is a unique learning opportunity. “Our students get a lot of reps calling regular season games, but doing play-by-play or color commentary for a championship tournament his always special for sportscasters,” said Maben. “Preparing for and broadcasting from a tournament provides a hands-on professional development experience that you simply cannot get in the classroom.”

The Big East Baseball Tournament runs May 25 – 28. For more information on the tournament, visit www.bigeast.com/tournaments/?id=50.
