The bats came alive for Seton Hall in their 17-1 win over Milwaukee

The Seton Hall baseball team won against the Milwaukee Panthers 17-1 with a late offensive explosion. The Pirates came into this game with a 1-1 record, winning their previous game 10-2 against Illinois. The Panthers were 1-2, winning their last game against Wake Forest 8-6.

For today’s game, David Festa took the mound for the Pirates, while Mike Edwards started the game for the Panthers. The Panthers got ahead in the top of the first inning when Ty Olejnik singled up the middle infield setting up Joe Vyskocil to get an RBI on his single to left field. Steve Grober scored on a double from Devin Hack for Seton Hall’s first run on the game.

The game would remain tied until the bottom of the sixth inning when the Pirates would score four more runs making the game 5-1. Seton Hall had an explosive seventh inning scoring a total of 11 runs. The bottom of the inning started with a single to third by Tyler Shedler-Mcavoy. Matt Toke walked, advancing Shedler-McAvoy to second.

Casey Dana singled to center field which scored Shedler-Mcavoy. Toke who advanced to third on the hit would score on an error. Grobber would come up next and get hit by a pitch but would be replaced by William Gale who pitch ran for him. Dana scored off a single to center field by Connor Hood. Alex Clyde was the first of two back to back walks, making the bases loaded.

David Haberman got the second walk scoring Gale. Thomas Holdorf who pinch hit for Hack, doubled down the right line. He got two RBI’s from his double that scored Clyde and Hood. Jace Baqui walked after coming into the game to pinch hit for Jerry Huntzinger.

Shelder-McAvoy also walked which scored Haberman. Jonathan Luders pinch hit for Toke and doubled down the left field line. Baqui and Holdorf both scored on the double. Bobby Shappard pinch hit for Dana, who flew out to left field scoring Shedler-McAvoy.

Gale singled to shortstop. Hood singled through the left side, scoring Luders. There would a total of 16 batters to come up to bat and they faced three pitchers. The Pirates would score one more time in the game at the bottom of the eighth off a homerun from Holdorf.

The Pirates will next play against the Liberty Flames on Friday, Feb. 21.
