The Pirates fell to the St. John’s Red storm 3-0 in the final home match for Seton Hall this season. The match also marks the last at home for seniors Miranda Higginbotham, Sophia Coffey, Caitlin Koska, Cherise Hennigan and Abby Thelen.

“The seniors have come a long way,” Head Coach Allison Yeager said after the match. “It’s really sad to see them go. It’s been a fun four years; we’ve gotten a lot of wins with them and we’ve seen them grow as players and as women.”

The first set started off in the Pirates favor, getting off to a 4-1 lead that soon became 10-5. From there however, St. John’s stormed back and tied it at 13 before taking the lead soon after. While the Pirates battled back the Red Storm soon made their final push to win the set 25-18.

The second set was more of the same for the Hall who kept things close to start, but St. John’s scored nine of the last eleven points to take a 25-15 win.

The third set had another exciting start to it with the score tied at 10, but The Red Storm didn’t let up and soon went up 20-12 leaving the Pirates little chance at a comeback. St. John’s finished out the set to win 25-16 and take the match in straight sets.

Koska led the team in kills on her senior night with nine, as Sophia Coffey did the same in digs and assists.

The Pirates now go into the final part of their schedule next weekend as they head to the Midwest for a weekend at Marquette and DePaul.

“We like going to Wisconsin. A lot of our team is from the Midwest. We always have home visits set up and we try to bring out a big crowd,” Coach Yeager said.
