So Hideous Interview

Date: August 28, 2015

Listen to So Hideous join Steve live in studio as they talk about their newest album, the local scene, and more!

On their second album:

"So the second record is called Laurestine. We decided to make a concept album this time around, write seven tracks, conceptually dealing with the idea that there is brain activity, scientifically there is seven minutes of increased brain activity after the heart stops, and the scientists are still trying to determine what that is... and we took that idea, what if it was... life review, going through memory, and kind of giving yourself a peaceful shut down in a lot way, taking yourself to some place that seems familiar... and then with that we really had to write everything around that and hammer it home. So there is going to be seven tracks, we sprinkle seven-eight and seven-four time signatures to remind the character... The Laurenstine is the deathless flower... it thrives when death is all around it."

On favorite thing about the New York/New Jersey area:

"The accessibility of everything, because some times I travel to other places, and I mean, you need to drive and you need to plan... Also think that a lot of the scene here is pretty tigh-nit. I mean, you'll go to one show, you'll see the same people you'll see at your's and vice-versa. Everyone there is in bands and for the most part everyone is supportive... I think we have a lot of supportive people here."

WSOU would like to thank So Hideous for stopping by for the interview. So Hideous is playing St. Vitus tonight! The new album comes out on October 16th!
